Land Prices

The supply of farmland to the market in last quarter is down 42% compared to the first quarter of 2016, and down 38% compared to the long-term average.

Demand for land remains robust – especially from investors looking for more than a ‘safe’ investment in uncertain times – and this together with the diminishing supply, may help strengthen land values.

RICS Rural Land Market Survey

The latest RICS Rural Land Market Survey reports that land prices increased by 12% over the past year as the growth in demand for farmland continues to outstrip that of supply.

A significant revival in ‘lifestyle’ demand for land is pushing up land prices and supporting expectations for further increases over the course of the next twelve months.
