Interest in farmland investment is on the rise

Interest in farmland investments is rising among people both in the UK and from overseas countries, according to one commentator.

Mark McAndrew, head of farmland and estate sales at Strutt & Parker, noted that along with domestic farmers, he has also received enquiries from the likes of Russian investors in recent times.

He stated: "Our growth statistics for 2010 say farmland prices shot up by 13% this year, so that is 13% capital growth."

The country's farmland now appears to be "flavour of the month" among those who are looking to make investments, Mr McAndrew went on to say.

His remarks follow the publication of figures from Knight Frank, which revealed that this year could see farmland prices go up by a rate of nearly 7%.
